Kundalini Yoga is much more than just a system of physical exercises. It is a dynamic, powerful tool for expanding awareness.
Kundalini Yoga is probably the most formalized style of yoga currently taught throughout the world. In any class, anywhere in the world, you can expect it to include six major components: 1) tuning-in with the Adi Mantra, 2) pranayama or warm-up, 3) kriya, 4) relaxation, 5) meditation and 6) close with the blessing song, "May the Long Time Sun Shine upon You".
Learning and Teaching at the Center
An authentic teacher or Guru doesn’t give you the answers, but shows you how to get them for yourself. That is why Kundalini Yoga works. It is a natural process of learning to heal you through awareness. Yogi Bhajan taught the yogic technology, and it is designed for students to initiate themselves.
In Kundalini Yoga, there aren’t supposed to be teachers or gurus who keep their students following a carrot on a stick. Life doesn’t set us up for failure. The universe provides all the tools and resources needed to accomplish our tasks. We just need to stay conscious and observe.
Through our practices, we become aware, and in those moments of awareness we are healed. These moments don’t happen every day. But even one day like this out of forty is worth it because healing requires momentum. In this moments of awareness, we also learn to react differently; this too is a kind of healing. You become a little more you. You are happier and a little more self-empowered.
